Our Projects

Juvenile Justice Family Engagement Study

In partnership with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, we are working to better understand how families can be more meaningfully involved in shaping justice system practices and policies.

JJ-CARES

Working alongside the Rhode Island Family Court, we aim to identify and address the barriers that prevent families and youth from accessing needed behavioral health care during and after their involvement with the justice system.

Neighborhood Disadvantage and Youth Substance Use

We are studying how neighborhood contexts influence criminalization and substance use trajectories over 16 years, from adolescence through adulthood.

Black Women’s Mental Health in Prison

We’re partnering with Black women who have experienced incarceration to listen to their stories and learn from their experiences with mental health and mental health care while in prison.

Mental Health while Unhoused

We’re partnering with unhoused communities in Atlanta to listen and learn about their experiences with mental health and access to care.

Medicaid Policy and Early Mortality Among Black Men

We’re studying how state-level changes in Medicaid implementation affect the early deaths of young Black men in the U.S.

Welfare Policy and Health Equity

We want to understand how state-to-state differences in welfare programs impact the everyday health and opportunity of marginalized communities.
